Did you know there was a sexual harassment advisor at the UWI Mona campus?
Meet Dr. Debbie-Ann Chambers- UWI Mona's Sexual Harassment Advisor. She is responsible for helping students affected by sexual harassment on campus. Located at the Mona Health Centre, Dr. Chambers' office is a safe space for students who have been the victims of or witnessed sexual harassment at Mona.
The Sexual harassment advisor (SHA) is a position established by UWI's Sexual Harassment Policy which was approved in 1994.
Individuals may opt to seek consultations about sexual harassment from SHAs who are obligated by law and/or their professional status, not to divulge information they have received in confidence. During confidential consultations, individuals may discuss matters about sexual harassment, without identifying the persons involved, including themselves.
Any member of the University community may seek informal assistance, advice or counselling from a Sexual Harassment Advisor (SHA) to discuss matters of sexual harassment, in circumstances where harassment may or may not have actually occurred.
Dr. Debbie-Ann Chambers is here to help any victim, witness or perpetrator of sexual harassment here at UWI Mona. You can visit her during office hours at the UWI Mona Health Centre.
